Things Dogs Are Not Thankful For, But Should Be

Thanksgiving is on the way! Food and family are of course central to celebrations of the autumn holiday, but it’s also important to remember the reason for the autumn holiday: giving thanks. As for our canine buddies, they are of course grateful for the love, care, treats, bacon, toys, car rides, and belly rubs we offer. However, there are a few things Fido probably doesn’t appreciate as much as he should. A Ellicott City, MD vet lists some of them below.

Leashes definitely help keep dogs safe: without them, our canine patients would constantly be barreling off into trouble. However, given the choice, it’s probably safe to say that Fido would opt to cut the cord.

Just like leashes, fencing can help protect dogs from many dangers, and keep him from running off. And yet somehow we get the feeling that Man’s Best Friend would rather do without them.

Our canine companions really do seem to enjoy feeling clean and fresh. They’re not quite as fond of the process that gets them there, however.

Wellness Care

Vaccinations and parasite control help protect your beloved pet from dangerous viruses and parasites. Even so, your furry best friend would probably be perfectly content to skip them. Sorry buddy, they really are for your own good!

Food Packaging

If there’s one thing we know about Man’s Best Friend, it’s that he is very, very enthusiastic about food. If Fido could do away with the things that hold food—all those cans and packages that form a barrier between him and his favorite snacks–we don’t think it would take him very long to do so.

Vacuum Cleaners

Vacuum cleaners are a must for anyone with a pup. To us, they help get rid of dog fur, and help fight odors. They’re also important when battling flea infestations. To Fido, the vacuum is a scary robot that is trying to erase his scent.

Proper veterinary care is crucial to your pup’s health and well-being. However, whenever we try to explain that to our furry patients, they usually just tilt their heads quizzically. Your fuzzy pal would probably rather visit a park than come see us at the clinic.

Happy Thanksgiving! Please do not hesitate to reach out if ever we can be of assistance. As your Ellicott City, MD animal clinic, we’re here to help!
