9 Cute Ways to Celebrate National Cat Day

Did you know that National Cat Day is coming up October 29th? Of course, if you were to ask Fluffy, she would likely insist that every day is National Cat Day, but that’s okay. Our feline buddies really do deserve to be pampered all the time! Here, an Ellicott City, MD vet lists some fun ways to get that little motor going on this special kitty holiday.

Cats take their beauty rest very, very seriously. Get your feline pal a comfy new bed to curl up in!

Although Fluffy won’t mind ‘borrowing’ your sofa or chair, she’ll be delighted with something she doesn’t have to share. Buy or make your kitty some cat furniture, like a cat tower or pet tent.

There are few things cuter than a frisky cat pouncing on a fuzzy mouse toy. Of course, kitties all have their own purrsonal preferences when it comes to playthings. Some prefer wand toys, while others love more modern things, like remote-controlled mice or catnip bubbles.

Speaking of catnip, it makes a great gift. Get your kitty a small potted catnip plant to nibble on. You can find it in most pet stores. Cat grass, which is also called wheat grass, is another good option.

Take some time to play with Fluffy. It will be great for her, both mentally and physically! Plus, it will be cute to watch.

Another great way to get that little motor going is to offer Fluffy a special treat. Canned tuna or chicken in water is fine. You can also give your kitty some shredded deli meat, sodium-free broth, or plain, cooked meat, poultry, or fish with the skin, bones, and fat removed.

Our furry pals apparently have some fans in the computer/mobile app industry, as there are now several apps made just for Fluffy. Download a game for your kitty to play. (Note: results may vary.)

Take a few moments to snap an adorable picture of your feline friend. There’s just no such thing as too many cat photos!

At the end of the day, spend some quality time with your kitty, and let her do what she does best: snuggle!
